An esteemed educator and administrator, Mrs. Rivka Oratz began her teaching career at Hebrew Academy of Nassau County. There, from 1980 to 1982, she taught Sifrei Chumash and Pirkei Avot to middle school and high school grades. She subsequently assumed the position of teacher at Shulamith High School Faculty, where she stayed from 1982 to 2004, and taught Judaic studies to 9th and 11th grades, thought courses which included Sifrei Chumash and Sifrei Ketuvim and innovated a course to prepare students for independent work on Avodot in seminary. In 2001, Mrs. Oratz became an Extra-Curricular Coordinator of Middle School. In this position, she was in charge of staff recruitment, development, observations and evaluation, staff development programs that integrate elementary school and middle school staff, student recruitment, student observation and evaluation, parent communication-targeting student issues and implementing solutions, meeting with students, consulting with teachers on a regular basis in order to raise the bar ensuring a high academic expectation level, collaboration with staff regarding curricular, co-curricular, emotional, and social issues, student discipline, program initiatives and implementation, includes programs that integrate the elementary and middle school levels, revising curriculum, aligning curriculum with students' needs, aligning curriculum with BJE requirements, preparing 8th grade students for BJE HS Entrance exams.

Respected by her colleagues as an educator, Mrs. Rivka Oratz has taught a host of subjects including college level courses in Hashkafa and Sifrei Ketuvim. In 2010, she was appointed School Principal at the newly opened Lev Bais Yaakov private, all-girls, Jewish school located in Brooklyn, NY. As the school Principal, Rivka Oratz is responsible for

• Preparation for NYS accreditation in collaboration with the Board of Education during the high school's formative years.
• Staff recruitment and support, maintaining an exemplary culture of good will, fostering collegiality and an effective synergy.
• Professional Staff Development providing individual guidance to ensure effective instruction through mastery of curriculum design, active learning strategies, learning assessment, etc.
• Formation and continuous support of a highly effective Mechaneches infrastructure, providing support for the growth and development of the individual student, as well as for the cohesive class unit
• Student recruitment including but not limited to: coordinating all
aspects of Main Open House, as well as "mini" Open Houses, networking with administrators and parents, building trust, multifaceted responsibilities of the admissions process
• Teaching Chumash, Kesuvim
• Development and instruction of Sifrei Kodesh library research class, incorporating resource Sefarim from Chazal through Acharonim.
• Development and application of assessment tool designed to monitor projected and accomplished classroom goals and foster administrative/ teacher collaboration
• Development of assessment tool to monitor individual student progress, promote administrative/teacher collaboration and provide effective student support techniques
• Formation of homogenous tracking to optimize student abilities and promote a healthy "stretch limit" for all students.
• Staff development/leadership - Torah Umesorah Mechaneches program, interfacing with Vaad of BY, working closely with the Vaad's

At Lev Bais Yaakov, she continues to be a vital presence in the classroom. Throughout her tenure, Mrs. Rivka Oratz forged warm relationships with hundreds of students, many of whom have remained in close contact with her well beyond their high school and seminary years. Her proven capacity for leadership, intellect and warmth, combined with her great passion for Torah scholarship render her superbly qualified for the leadership of Lev Bais Yaakov High School.
